IMA (Innovative Manufacturing in Africa) Kick-off

The 9 makerspace awardees presented their history, work and capabilities. We talked about the project, the phases of implementation and the timeline of the activities they will engage into:

• Development of impact indicators and Research capacity building to show the impacts of makerspaces,
• Distributed production of 200 items with 3 levels of growing complexity to prototype distributed manufacturing systems,
• Research into Business Models for makerspaces.

The 9 makerspaces have demonstrated leadership, spaces and programs focusing on supporting women and girls in STEAM/STEM, education and training for other underrepresented and disadvantaged groups, entrepreneurial programs and capacity building.
